Several papyrus documents dating to as early as 3000 BC records dental procedures and fees charged for these procedures. The remains of some ancient Egyptians and Greco-Romans also reveal their society’s attempts at dental prosthetics. In the 17th century, French Pierre Fauchard, the “father of modern dentistry,” started what now known as dentistry science.
